Busan, a bustling city of approximately 3.6 million residents, is located on the southeastern tip of the Korean peninsula. The size of Busan is 769.89km² which is only 0.8% of the whole landmass of the Korean Peninsula. The natural environment of Busan is a harmonious relationship of mountains, rivers and sea. Its geography includes a coastline featuring superb beaches and scenic cliffs, mountains which provide excellent hiking and extraordinary views with hot springs scattered throughout the city. Busan enjoys four distinct seasons and a temperate climate that never gets too hot or too cold.
Busan is the second largest city in Korea. Its deep harbor and gentle tides have allowed it to grow into the largest container handling port in the country and the fifth largest in the world. The city's natural endowments and rich history have resulted in Busan's increasing reputation as a world class city for tourism and culture, and it is also becoming renowned as a hot spot destination for international conventions.
Haeundae Beach
Busan's No.1 beach, Haeundae boasts an emerald seascape, fine sandy
beach and beautiful attractions. With its hot springs and excellent
recreational facilities, it is also one of the most visited places in Korea
with 500,000 to 600,000 tourists every summer.
Nurimaru APEC House
In harmony with the exquisite scenery of Dongbaek Island, the venue of
the APEC Summit Conference overlooks Haeundae Beach and the
beautiful landscape around Gwangan Bridge. Another attraction that you
should not miss is the traditional styled Korean pavilion re-built with a
modern architectural touch.
Dongbaek Park
The camellia and pine trees make a magnificent scene on Dongbaek Island, while the pathways and the trail to the summit of the hill promise a joyful promenade. At the summit, there is a bronze statue and a monument of Choe Chiwon, along with a stone carving on a rock at the southern edge. At the seashore, you can observe a statue of a mermaid that appears in a legend about Princess Hwangok.
Gwangalli Beach
The passion of summer is beautiful at Gwangalli Beach. The beach is in good harmony with Gwangan Bridge which spans the bay, and the night view of the sea from the beach is exceptionally beautiful. During the summer, many festive activities and interesting events take place on streets and outdoor stages in the area near Gwangalli Beach.
Gwangan Bridge (Diamond Bridge)
When you drive across Gwangan Bridge on a fine day, you can see the
best tourist attractions of Busan at a glance, including the Oryukdo
Islands, Dongbaek Islands and Dalmajigil Road. At night, this creates a very
attractive atmosphere with all the bright lights of the city. In October,
when the “Busan Festival of Light” takes place, Gwangan Bridge is more
beautiful than ever.
Taejongdae
Taejongdae, a park located at the southern end of Yongdo Island,
commands magnificent views. The name Taejongdae comes from the fact
that King Taejong Muyol of the Shilla Dynasty was infatuated with this
scenery and made frequent visits to this area. This location is the closest
point to the Japanese island of Tsushima, which you can see from
Taejongdae on a fine day.
Seomyeon
When night falls, colorful neon signs are lit one by one. The passion of
these streets never dims and lives on into the night. Delightful music,
lively people and colorful lighting will lift your spirits. This is Seomyeon,
the busiest area in Busan. Seomyeon 1-Beonga is the busiest street in
Seomyeon. It is full of shopping malls and other amenities and is
crowded with domestic and foreign tourists, as it is near the Lotte Hotel
and Lotte Department Store.
Songjeong-Gijang
Extending from the horizon is the boundless expanse of sea and the sky.
This is where romantic feelings or peace of mind can be felt. Songjeong,
with the leisurely atmosphere of a southern tropical land, and Gijang,
always full of warm emotion, invite you to the world of their charms.
Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams
The Sunset Fountain of Dreams, also called “The Dadaepo Fountain of
Dreams”, embroiders the dusky sky of Dadaepo with cool spouts of water
and colorful lighting against the background of magnificent music. You
can request your own favorite piece of music or submit a personal
message in advance, for it to be broadcast during the fountain show.
